"West Wing" actress' foreclosed house sold - former Estate of William Holden
Allison Janney, best known for her starring role in The West Wing, recently lost her Palm Springs home to foreclosure. In 2006, at the peak of the real estate market, Janney and restaurant consultant Gregg Rapp paid $3.9 Million for this former estate of the late actor William Holden. The new owner will pay $2.2, about half of what Janney and Rapp paid for this 8000 sq ft steele and glass house designed by Modern architect Hugh Kaptur. It has 5 bedrooms perched on 4 acres and is located in the prestigous Southridge neighborhood of Palm Springs. Bob and Dolores Hope's mountain top mansion, located a few doors away, will be coming on the market and co-listed by my company in January for about $45 Million. Southridge is comprised of only about 19 estates, many of which were designed by famous architects such as William Cody and John Lautner and were owned by many of Hollywood A-listers such as Bob Hope, William Holden and Steve McQueen.
The new owners will most likely do a complete renovation on this estate, which has commanding views across the desert. When completed it will be one of the most spectacular mid-century modern homes in the desert.
